Fruit Buyer’s Report | Fruitful Office February 2017

Dear All,

The Winter season is always challenging for variety. Our experienced buying team has been focused on ensuring the Winter varieties are the best available whilst, on occasion, including some more unusual (and exciting!) varieties.

  • Pears

Look out for the Williams pear if you receive our seasonal fruit mix. This variety is one of the oldest English dessert pears dating back to the 18th century. It quickly became popular due to its sweet and juicy taste. As it ripens the skin blushes a gentle yellow. Another variety to look out for is the Sempre pear, which has a beautiful and classic pale green skin. At 58 calories per 100g, the pear is one of the very low calorie fruits.

  • Oranges

A great addition to our seasonal mix are Blood Oranges, with a distinctive crimson coloured flesh. The Torocco variety is a really easy peeler. Oranges are already well known for their high vitamin C levels, but they’re also packed with vitamin A, helping to keep your skin healthy.

  • Grapes

Grapes are full of antioxidants, and currently Tawny and Crimson grapes are included in our seasonal mix. Both have an appealing dark red colouring. Plump and juicy, these seedless grapes are sweet and delicious.

Stay healthy everyone.
