Fruit Buyer’s Report | Fruitful Office Winter 2020-2021

Dear All,

There are many things that, during these challenging times, we can’t control. Eating plenty of fruit and vegetables, however, is within our reach – and it depends only on our actions and willpower.

The United Nations is making 2021 the International Year of Fruit and Vegetables, highlighting their crucial role in a healthy diet. “They provide the human body with an abundance of nutrients, strengthen immune systems and help lower risks for a number of diseases” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Fruitful Office has developed products for the home office, as well as for the workplace. This means that companies can now order fresh fruit and have it delivered at their employee’s home office, whilst they are working from home (wfh). This sort of Fruit Plan is easy to setup and manage https://www.fruitfuloffice.co.uk/wfh/staff-engagement-plan/.

Here are some winter fresh fruit varieties and their health benefits:

  • Citrus fruit – satsumas and oranges: these are the ‘Niagara Falls’ of Vitamin C, and for this reason we include plenty of them in our fruit mix. Vitamin C is thought to strengthen the immune system, by helping the body to reduce damage from inflammation whilst equipping it to better fight off infections
  • Apples: ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ is a well known saying, but it clearly emerged for a reason: they are incredibly good for you and linked to a panoply of health benefits. Eating apples regularly is linked to a lower risk of many major diseases, including cancer
  • Pears: a powerhouse of nutrients, fibre, and vitamins, pears promote a healthy gut and digestive system as well as fighting inflammation. The peel contains many of the nutrients, so be sure to eat it!
  • Dates: a favourite festive variety of ours, dates are rich in nutrients, fibre and antioxidants, helping to reduce the risk of disease. Given their sweetness, they are an excellent substitute for other unhealthy treats!

Stay safe and stay healthy everyone.
