Fruit Buyer’s Report | Fruitful Office Summer 2020

Dear All,

Summer has been particularly warm this year, and easing lockdown measures has meant more freedom to spend time outdoors. Greater awareness of the present, our environment, and both our physical and mental health have helped to reshape and focus some of our priorities during these more testing times. A simple walk in the park, a warming embrace, and eating an apple, have become moments of extreme pleasure and gratitude.

After a lengthy lockdown period, we are now seeing offices re-open, even if partially, whilst adapting to this “new normal” in order to ensure high levels of safety. We believe that office fruit is a great way to welcome staff back to a healthy office – both rewarding staff who are in the workplace whilst promoting health and wellbeing.

Here are some of the fresh fruit varieties to look out for this summer:

  • Plums

May have been one of the first fruits farmed by humans and over 19 different types of plums exist today. Plums are low in calories but contain many varied vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, C and K. Plums are particularly high in polyphenol antioxidants, which may help reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes

  • Citrus fruits

Come in many different varieties, of which we prefer the Satsuma (also known as the Tangerine), the Clementine and the Tangelo (commonly referred to as the Minneola), depending on the specific fruit growing season. These fruits quite rightly become extremely popular at this time due to their abundance of vitamin C, a natural antioxidant that fights against the free radicals in the human body and supports the immune system. We include plenty in both our essentials and seasonal fruit mix

  • Blueberries

Everybody loves their dark blue appearance and sweet taste! Widely labelled a ‘superfood’, blueberries are both rich in nutrients and high in antioxidants. Some of the many documented health benefits include: may help protect against cancer, may help to lower blood pressure, may help prevent heart disease and may have anti-diabetes effects. Seasonal mix baskets only

Eating plenty of fruit is sure to help support your immune system.

Stay safe and stay healthy everyone.
