Planting Fruit Trees campaign update: October to December 2018

2018-2019 planting season update

  • The tree planting season has been successful and currently farmers are planting out about 2 million trees in the Choma region (close to Mzuzu, Northern Malawi)
  • Individual farmers are really seeing the long term benefit of growing trees for the future and successful farmers are keen to plant even more trees in the future, whilst inspiring others to get involved
  • The Choma forest conservation committees who are keen to protect their hills from deforestation by illegal charcoal producers have together with the forestry department confiscated over 100 bags of charcoal in the last few months
