Planting Fruit Trees campaign update: July to September 2022

Case study: Masimu Primary School

  • With such a young population (over 50% of the population is under 18), it is important to educate children about the merits of tree planting and conservation
  • School committee members and students met the Ripple Africa team to learn about how to plant out the seedlings and care for the trees as they grow
  • Papaya trees are fast growing and can start producing fruit from years 2 or 3. The school can both consume the fruit or sell it – providing children a valuable lesson in entrepreneurship
